Hyalite Creek was the place where we fished the last day we were in Montana. It was a suggestion by the sweet waitress in Chinese food restaurant. Hyalite Cr. is the tribute of Eastern Gallatin R., narrow but nice, and few people comes to fish there.

We drove about 20 minutes then arrived the midstream where was in the forest. There was a small damaged dam, and the stream had washed a new way and ran toward to downstream. Hyalite Cr looks like the tributes of Danja in Taiwan, Horner Water in England or Yu Stream in Japan. Such fishing environment was we familiar with, so we all choose to use #2 fly tackle.

Because few people fished here, so trout bit fly without any hesitation once it fell on the surface. The size of trout are small, so I put my concentration on the spot where was in front of the damaged dam. From the signal of raise, I supposed the trout was bigger than those in flow. In addition,

Fishing in such spot must be careful with flow. In order to alert the trout, angler should avoid making fly drag during the drift. If the drift is
successful, trout will rises and takes the fly. And if trout dose not take fly, you should let the fly drift to still water and wait for a while. When trout approaches the fly, then quiver the fly slightly to make small ripple. The trout may mistake that as the insect struggles on the surface and takes the fly. I had used this method and catch 3 rainbow trout which is 12 inches long.
I could not keep fishing in front of dam, so I decided to move myself to catch up William and Hank. I did not give up trying the spots while I was moving to upstream, of course. But most of my catch was baby trout which left from the two first movers. I marched about 100 meters then saw Hank ran toward me excitedly. He just caught a 12 inches rainbow trout in the pool head, and the trout was the biggest prize today.
After taking photo, we walked to upstream to find William. Then we saw William concentrated on fishing in front of a small wooden bridge. He found a pool where trout was abundant, and it was even seemed that the trout was unlimited. I took out DV camera to record the procedure. We fished and took photos until the sky became totally dark. Such nice and beautiful stream was the end of our fishing journey in America.
